ここにgoogleを設定したくはありません。
ホームページに「カスタムURL」を設定しているとして、新しいタブを「Firefox Home」に設定してGoogle等のよく使うサイトのショートカットを配置しておくことはできるはずです。
私は「新しいタブを開く→Googleサイトのショートカットをクリック」でGoogleやYouTubeを開いており、特に不便は感じていません。
また、ブックマークツールバーを使ったり、任意のフォルダーのブックマークをポップアップ表示する」拡張機能もあります。
どうしても
Bug 1894910 の再考を求めたいのであれば、Mozilla Connect に下記の議論がありますので、返信するなり Kudos（賞賛）を追加してみるなりしてはいかがでしょう。
